After being so seriously disappointed with the midterm results, and seeing as how it may go even worse . . .
What prevents the rest of America from kicking out a rebellious son . . . sort of tough love ?
Unfortunately for your initial assessment, the question of secession was settled over 150 years ago.
When a state such as Texas votes for secession with a 75% approval of eligible voters and is not subsequently allowed to determine its own future, then the right of secession does not exist.
I've tried
Yes, they can secede. THe USC is silent on the subject.
Doctor Feelgood throws his two cents in.
His response to your excellent question:
“To put it in abstract terms; the rest of the
the greater Cell Mass (America) must collectively reject
the alleged particle of bacteria (troublemaking, unfixable state or region) AND the rejected bacteria must AGREE to accept the conclusions and terms of separation from the greater Cell Mass. Sort of a No Fault Divorce vs an Excommunication.”
What happens with federal properties?
They can take the gear with them when they leave. But... Remember, the citizens of the seceding state(s) paid taxes before secession and have a poportional claim on on federal property.
Thank you . . . I'll try to hang on a bit longer
I’ve long wondered myself if we could eject CA, NY, and IL from the Union.
Give Putin, California and New York in exchange for peace
I honestly believe the original colonies should have been allowed to leave, what couldn’t happen is other states that were created with land purchased by the federal government shouldn’t have been allowed to leave since they would basically be stealing the land from the US which bought it.
The easy cut is to slice off New York and New England. 7 leftist senators gone would ensure conservative control of the federal government forever.
Those states can leave and have as many abortions and immigrants as they want.
Actually, I was thinking about the southern border states that haven’t reared up a militia and challenged the rest of patriotic America to join them.
Was the declaration of independence allowed under Royal law?
Did the British have any properties left in the USA after the war?
Doesn’t matter whether its legal or not.
We’ve made a new government because the previous one was tyrannical, and I’ll argue The crown didn’t push the people anywhere close to the point we’re at now with Fedzilla
I think there was an effort by part of Washington state to leave Wash. and join Idaho. Was it presented as something to be voted on. Anyone heard anything on that?
Good God you don’t reward them by just giving them territory. COME ON MAN!!! :/
It wasn’t settled.
They just lost.
It settled that particular secession, it hasn’t settled anything for perpetuity.
Seriously, when the US army couldn’t occupy and impose a government on Afghanistan is going to impose a government on Texas?
