I no longer want to be a republican. The GOP needs to go the way of the whigs and a new fresh beginning is needed. I don’t like those people and do not want any association with them.

I think declared party affiliations should be done away with. A person is too easily identified for targeting. Voter rolls are public information.
For example, on returned Absentee Ballots, the voter’s name (with signature) and address is on the envelope holding the ballot. Easy enough for a saboteur to check that against the voter roll, see party affiliation, and discard it.
For example, the Republican governor in Tennessee was just re-elected. I did not vote for him, as I thought there was a better candidate among the 'independents'. My candidate came in third...shame the gullible Lee supporters didn't vote with me. Oh, well. :-)
