No, it wasn’t. But we didn’t have Zoom or Teams or Office 365 or Virtual workstations before all that. Unless those go away now, which there is no sign of that happening, I want more of my life back. Those things, in addition to having to show up for 40 hrs/week, are far too intrusive now.
Can’t help thinking Musk is using this as a way of reducing headcount through voluntary separation without having to pay severance. He can always ch#nge the policy later.
If I was younger, and lived closer to HQ, then I would probably feel otherwise.
It could just be a stealth effort to force attrition. He’s going to allow for exceptions. And you can bet that those who aren’t top performers won’t be approved. A lot of them will be out job hunting. But, how many of them will quickly find work?
He can get more to quit by requiring men not have a ponytail and men and women cannot have jewelry thru their nose or lips or tongue and no hair dyed weird colors and dress normal.

The organization I work for still has remote work. Have come in two or three days a week. The small group I work in goes in everyday however.

I enjoyed working remotely during the lockdown — no need to commute or get dressed. If tired, I could take a nap, then resume.
Coming to work has its advantages also, and for me, is necessary, as I deal with the public and physically handle things. However, I would like the option to stay home and work remotely during inclement weather. Ever since I slipped on ice and broke my shoulder, I insisted on staying home until everything is cleared up.
That’s a fact.
