Historically speaking, comparing certain people to insects and rodents hasn’t turned out well for the targeted group. It starts by dehumanizing them and often ends in acts of violence - sometimes extreme violence, social upheaval violence, and war. An enlightened progressive should know better.

I don't know I have known some pretty butterflies

And I had pet Guina Pigs and a Rat...that were very nice and behaved. I loved them very much.

Look up “The 10 stages of genocide” by Dr. Gregory Stanton; what you brought up is stage IV, dehumanization, where the targeted group is compared to insects, disease and vermin.
