LOVE THY NEIGHBOR
The documentary “1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture” claims that one human error 75 years ago stoked decades of homophobia and hate. Extremists don’t want you to see it.
The first time the word “homosexual” appeared in the Bible was in 1946. That year, a committee gathered to translate an updated English version of the book from the Greek. Religious scholars, priests, theologists, linguists, anthropologists, and activists have done decades of research and investigation into the instances where the word appears in the book. Their conclusion is that it was a mistranslation.
In other words, the Biblical assertion that homosexuality is a sin—the catalyst for an entire shift in culture, with political repercussions, religious implications, consequences for LGBT rights and acceptance, and, frankly, deadly results—was, they allege, a mistake.
As a new film asserts, it was “the misuse of a single word that changed the course of history.”
1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture is a new documentary directed by Sharon “Rocky” Roggio. Ahead of its premiere this week at the DOC NYC festival, it has, as one might expect, gone viral within the conservative and Christian communities.

I remember having an argument with a homosexual back in the late 70’s. He used that lame line that the Bible said love your neighbor. I responded by stating it didn’t mean giving your neighbor the back door treatment. He didn’t really have a response other than I was not being kind. I said something like... Well, you’re right, I wasn’t and didn’t mean to be.
Someone didn’t tell the author of that piece about Leviticus 18 verse 22.
That’s originally in Hebrew, not Greek, and says that it is an abomination to lie with a man as one would a woman.
This scholar ably explains the origin and meaning of the New Testament word ‘arsenokoitoi’ the very term at question:

The clip is just over two minutes and is well worth the time invested.
Homosexual behavior is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord. It may not be called homosexuality, but the behavior is clearly defined. And guess what, so is transgenderism. That too is defined as an abomination in Deuteronomy.
Except it is irrelevant when Paul says this in Romans 1…..
Romans 1:26-27 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Nobody needs to hair split over the use of words when the descriptions are accurate enough..
Even if you’re right, it doesn’t matter: the word of God is definitive on this issue, regardless of what you call it, God forbids it and defines it as an “ABOMINATION.”
Homosexuality is a biological dead end.
Yeah, but aside from that it was OK.
In certain translations yes. 1 Timothy 1:10 and 1 Corinthians 6:9. I’m not sure which version was published in 1946. It’s not clear to me that it’s a mistranslation.
This a situation where they use the bible to disprove the bible.
Otherwise, nowhere does the bible say, be fruitful and sodomize one another.
another “1619 Project”!
The word “transgender” doesn’t appear in the Bible yet it’s still an abomination.
In the Summa Theologica, Saint Thomas Aquinas maintained that homosexual practice was contrary to natural law, arguing that the primary natural end of the sexual act was procreation, and since said procreation is carried out from a process of sexual fertilization between a man and a woman, homosexuality is contrary to the very end of said act.
He also stated that “the unnatural vice” is the greatest of the sins of lust.
Throughout the Middle Ages, the Catholic church repeatedly condemned homosexuality, and it’s 20th century encyclical, Humane Vitae, promulgated Aquinas’ dictum.
What do all those religions have in common?
Hmmmmmm...
Could be they’re no longer exist?
WRONG.
The word “homosexuality” wasn’t an English word until late in the 1800’s. That it might not appear in the Bible earlier than that is a no-brainer.
That the practice itself was condemned regardless of what you call it is another story.
that has been taught for millenia.

Lol...we wuz Queens!
Nope, homosexuality and effeminism is clearly labeled as a sin and an abomination to God without error nor able to be given to alternate interpretation, throughout the untainted history of scripture, which being inspired by God, has no mistakes.
