I got to see Buck Owens and The Buckeroos do “Play that Funky Music”
It was great.
I checked the list looking for RHCP. Their BSSM is listed. I’m used to using these acronyms.
Great list. Thanks for sharing!
He’s put out a couple of great albums in the last few years:

You are welcome?
Agree with Super Fly, but Isaac Hayes’Truck Turner soundtrack should be somewhere on that list.
I didn’t mean that as a question.
That would be hilarious.
Probaly like the bluegrass version “enter the sandman”.
Surprised The Brothers Johnson didn’t make the list.
Sidebar-I used to know a guy who played rhythm guitar for the Commodores. Their stage guitarist could sing and dance. My friend played backstage. He also did some work with Parliament.
Good point on the Brother Johnson.
Cameo, Bar-Kays, Kool n the Gang, Parliament, EWF,check all, but no Lakeside, GAP Band, Brothers Johnson, or ConFunkShun?
Music was such fun in the 80’s.
I almost missed this post.
I love the funk!
More, Please! No, wait. Perfection was attained. ;)
Agree!
Tower of Power is close, tho!
Thanks for this post! I enjoyed my evening listening to some of my favorite music.
I was fortunate enough to see James Brown in one of the strangest venues he ever played - Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska in November of 1976. It was pretty much a religious experience.
Both excellent songs...they have a bunch.
It’s just not “funk.”
