I watched it twice. What I found interesting that despite the horror of war, Paul continued to do his duty until the end. It was a nice touch that he was killed just as the armistice went into effect by being stabbed in the back.

I honestly did not know that the Armistice was on 11/11 @ 11am until watching it.

He did. Didn’t even hesitate either. The stab in the back wasn’t lost on me either. Horrible. Those French troops had to be completely astonished by the attack literally minutes before the war ended. Maniacal and egotistical people in uniform will get people killed to satisfy their own self-worth.
That got me thinking, the Nazis banned the 1930 version, would they have banned this one? I'm not so sure.
