How did you find a sucker who took the other side of the bet?:)

Mickey Lolich in '68 WS...3 complete games(27 innings) + 3 hits including a homer. Heh, definitely before analytics.

Probably the last dominant World Series pitcher was Madison Baumgarner in 2014. 7 innings in Game One, a complete game shutout in Game 5 and in Game 7 pitched from the 5th inning on. He should have gotten credit for the win.

We'll never see such a dominant pitching series like that again.

Too bad. It’s ruined the game and stats including relievers stats in extras putting a man on 2nd with no out.

I still like baseball but it’s gotten harder and harder to watch. I get they pull the guy in the WS unlike Larson and let the fresh arms round off the game. But still...pshaw.

They’ve sucked out the “individual achievement” aspect of the game. They have very few marketable starts.

And what’s with the long hair and beards?

You know the last two complete games I ever watched in the last 40 years were the Field of Dreams games played.

They got a camera angle so good behind the pitcher that it was great watching the movement of that ball in the pitch.

That NY Yankee and Chicago White Sox game was fantastic.

Now they say they might not play it or that they intend on adding onto the stands.

NO! Leave it alone and play it once a year. Maybe play the all star game there.

Some are predicting that Philadelphia residents will be so busy worrying about baseball that they won’t bother voting for Fetterman.

I’m sure the rats have some apparatchik in a boiler room somewhere punching out ballots for Fetterman as we speak.

That is amazing pitching but I think Bob Gibson also pitched 3 complete games in that series and the year before in 1967 also 3 complete games and the Cardinals won that series, I could be wrong but Gibson was a dominant pitcher in that era

Doesn’t Philly always choke and blow it?

Only two no-hitters in over 100 years and over 680 world series games. That is incredible. The other was a perfect game. A perfect game by a single pitcher is just amazing. But still, a combined no-no ain't bad.

The Phillies were no-hit. But a no-hitter wasn’t thrown, a no-hitter can only be thrown by one pitcher. At best, you can call it a “combined no-hitter”.

“I was looking forward to the concert, I haven’t been to an Elton John concert since he appeared at The Summit in Houston in 1984.“

I hope they have you rain-checks for another show.

I saw him every tour from ‘74 to ‘88. Then again in ‘18 for this tour (twice). This tour is one of the best I’ve seen. I was surprised at how much it exceeded my expectations. You don’t want to miss it if you’re a fan.

I remember seeing that on the radio.
I can remember who was there as we stood around Sister Jane Agnes’ desk. One student had brought in a table radio that Sister would turn on at intervals during the game. After the three o’clock bell, she let a couple of us stay and listen to the game. She knew we had a long walk home and prolly would have missed it had she not done this.

Justin Verlander, who is 0-6 with an ERA of 6.07 in 8 World Series appearances, pitches tonight?

Pretty fanciful logic there.
