My wife talked me into getting a Tucson hybrid for her, we ordered it last fall and got it in March. I must say, I've been really impressed with it so far. It's a nice and quiet ride and she averages about 36 MPG with 50-50% highway/city driving.
I don't trust full electric cars, especially up here in the North.

I drive a Corolla hybrid. Not the most thrilling vehicle to drive, but it generally gets me from point "A" to point "B" in safety and comfort.
And economy. I just finished a roundtrip from Nashville to Oklahoma City -- 1340 miles. I spent about $75 on gas. :-)

And here in the hot desert (Phoenix) regular 6 year car batteries don't last two years unless you have a climate controlled garage. (Hint: get a battery with a great warranty. NAPA honors theirs with no fuss!). When the whole car runs off of the batteries, I get nervous. (I know lead-acid is different from LiIon or NiMh, but batteries in general DON'T like so much external heat.)
