Wow. What incredibly unprofessional behavior by the defense lawyer. Provoking the judge is not a winning strategy.
Broward county, Democrat cesspool. The lead PDA referenced the Pelosi rough-sex-gone-bad incident on order to complain about the lack of civility. Complete Dem hacks. They’d release Cruz on bail if they could.
Anyway, jury couldn’t find unanimously for the death penalty because the PDA office tried for sympathy because the kid’s mom drank.
I think the judge must have missed it, and maybe only heard about it afterwords. The attorney should be charged with contempt and sanctioned.
That said, the judge doesn’t seem like the brightest bulb on the tree. She comes off as whiney and bitchy, but maybe that’s because she’s put up with this cr@p for months.
“Anyway, jury couldn’t find unanimously for the death penalty because the PDA office tried for sympathy because the kid’s mom drank.”
I don’t know the full history on this kid. I know he was messed up and had problems for years. When this case first came out it was said he had autism like Adam Lanza. He comes off as a half wit to me.
No matter what the jury has given him life in prison and with all the counts he won’t get out. We must respect the jury’s decision even if we don’t agree with it. I hear so many “complain” about getting jury duty and then we read stuff like this.
Maybe in the future people should go down and volunteer to be available for jury duty even though I don’t know if it’s possible.
This does not excuse the victims from making threats to the defense if this did in fact happen. It lowers them to Cruz’s level.
Agree. I have never heard of this type of behavior being allowed.
Obviously this punk is not going to last a year in jail but is there a pool where I can get a bet down on the over/under for six weeks?
This has to be the softest judge in America.
What’s funny is the article makes it look like the judge is tough by calling the defense attorneys out on this misconduct!
Every court I have been in the judge wouldn’t be calling out anybody the attorney would be in holding cell waiting for the court to decide how much punishment is going to be inflicted. The public defender would probably fire a deputy PD who acted like this.
