The famous Roman sewers carried away very little human urine because the Romans saved it for various uses. If you added pee to your laundry, the ammonia in it served to keep whites white, so it stands to reason they would have believed it would do the same for your teeth.

I do appreciate the suggestion that I omit the timestamps, but I’m not going to. Even at their best, the YT generated transcripts wouldn’t look great without further editing, and I’m am not going to do it. For a long time I didn’t know there were transcripts, I only started including them sometimes because A) I couldn’t use the graphics because of Getty and whatnot, and B) people who didn’t really have any interest in the topic attempted to demand a summary of longer videos so they wouldn’t “waste their time” — despite the fact that trolling me about it was itself a waste of their time.
