God bless Texas.

the feds tax your social security if your total income is over a certain amount..what a scam!
but if you put money in a roth you dont get the upfront tax benefit.
South Carolina doesn’t tax SS or the first $15,000 of other pension retirement income. Also, it has very low property taxes.
Oklahoma allegedly does not tax SS and “pension” income. There is a codicil to that though.
They only don’t tax it if you don’t have any.
Oklahoma pretty much sucks. There, I said it. These clowns never saw a tax they don’t like and have mastered every means to piss it away to no good effect.
Excuse my cynicism, it comes from factual experience. Truth hurts.

What is income?
God Bless Florida
Puerto Rico …
RE: Puerto Rico …
So, Puerto Rico is a state now?
What about Guam and the Virgin Islands?
Thanks for the depressing update... (For those of us trapped behind enemy lines in MD...)
PR has nice tax incentives, if your income is large enough, and it’s own tax code that is significantly lower than the national rates on the mainland
RE: What is income?
What ever the government says it is. Just look at Trump’s CFO, who was jailed for tax evasion for not declaring the fact that Trump paid for his children’s tuition and that he lived free in one of the residences at Trump’s Tower as income.
RE: For those of us trapped behind enemy lines in MD...
What’s preventing you from migrating to one of these tax-friendly states?
Not sure about the school tuition, but the rent free living arrangement is and always has been “fringe benefits” and are required to be reported.
I swapped to a Roth 401k as soon as I could. There is ZERO chance the government will ever tax me less, ever. Taxes will only go up, up, and up. I will be shocked if the government doesn’t steal my savings by the time I retire, “for the people” anyway.
RE: Not sure about the school tuition,
There you go, there are many gray areas regarding the question: “what is income?”
Does living in the White House for free count as income for the President?
