Once saw someone make a tree out of copper wire while sitting at a bar. Pretty neat.

Here are two crafts projects I made this past year.

For my son who loves everything Tiki:

And my daughter who lives in SF:

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo - I made the mistake of having the SF one framed in regular instead of museum glass so it has a lot of glare.

Working on my 2nd giant Christmas stocking. The one I did last year for my great-nephew was a ‘hit’; however, his dad commented that his son’s stocking was bigger than his. He said this again a couple of weeks ago, so as a surprise, I’m making him a giant one as well.

Here’s the pattern:

Country Cottage Stocking Crochet Pattern

The texture is just fabulous. I’m using Charisma bulky 5 yarn. Colors were problematic (no ‘green’ other than sage), but the main stocking is red, the heel & toe are a heathered gray (gray with some white flecks) and the cuff will be black. I’m lining this one - fabric has a white background with deer, bear, hawks, & animal tracks in three main colors: black, red, & red/black plaid. Perfect for a hunter! I’ll post pics when I’ve made more progress. Starting at the toe, I’m up to the heel.

Very nice - I’ve done a lot of cross stitch in the past so I can appreciate all the stitches in your work! That ‘Tiki’ frame is so perfect! :-)

I’m a tikiphile, too, so I love your tiki needlepoint!

In my pretend grown up dreams I get to live on water somewhere that I can have a tiki hut pontoon boat and motor around whenever I want. And the rum drinks never end! (And no one gets hurt from over-imbibing!)

Good story as to origin. Did have one in this house, once.
Not seen in ages, must still be in storage. The piece always
reminded of the movie, “The Uninvited” (Ray Milland). Windswept, bare limbs. In time, unpacking that storge shed will be viewed as an extra Christmas in reuniting with items forgotten over time.
Much more ‘show-worthy’ than a pet rock. :-)

Check out this throw ... very seasonal, but unbelievable - colors, work involved, etc. I looked at the pattern - 18 turkey blocks, with textured strips between. Just imagining the work makes me dizzy!!

Very pretty - but way above my Pay Grade, LOL!

Here's an afghan I made for my aging Basset Hound, Rufus, back in the day. I miss that dog so much, but we had 15 wonderful years together. Vanna White yarn. He'd stay like that for hours - well, until Suppertime was announced, at least!

Turkey Throw is too much work for me ... also, too seasonal. After all that work, I’d want to leave it out all year, but can’t see it in spring/summer.

On to my ginormous stocking project! I have one more row to do and then I will convert from crochet to knitting for the cuff. My SIL has a simple sewing machine she will loan me for stitching up a lining. It has to be ready for Thanksgiving and it looks like it will be .... assuming nothing untoward happens in the meanwhile. Currently, the sewing machine is off limits because there is WuFlu in their house .... hoping it will clear out by next weekend at least. If she thinks I can figure it out, she could just leave it on the porch & I can get it & bring it home to sew. I ‘could’ hand sew in a dire circumstance, but I REALLY do NOT want to have to do that. (Note - I sewed clothes for myself in high school ... that Sears machine broke & we never got it fixed, even if I knew where it was).

My Aunt had a top of the line sewing machine ... cartridges for different stitches, etc. After she died, her husband, now a heart-broken widower, asked if I wanted it or he would give it away to a thrift store. I took it for sentimental value ... she made a lot of really wonderful projects on that machine. It’s in a closet - I haven’t even tried to use it because I sew so very little & I think it would take me a good while to figure it out - then I’d forget what I’d figured out by the time I needed it again. Maybe one of my nieces or great-nieces will want it sometime in the future.

These are absolutely adorable! The creator says they're not hard to make, work up quickly. Siamese is easiest since only 2 main colors.

So stinkin’ CUTE!

Got a HUGE box of 7” square crocheted pieces going off to ‘Warm Up America.’ Some wonderful volunteers take the squares we all make from scrap yarn then stitch them together to form blankets for those in need.

Next up are some Lap Blankets for my Dad’s old Nursing Facility and my local VA Hospital.

Then, on to Preemie Beanies in lots of fun, bright colors.

And, of course, planning the next color theme version of my crocheted Afghan for next year’s County Fair.

Hopping the above will make winter fly by faster. We had our first dusting of snow last night. :)

I’m knitting the cuff on the ginormous stocking I’m making - half way done. Then I need to figure out the lining. I also think I have enough faux fur yarn to make my niece an “Annie Bucket Hat” for her birthday ... she/hubby will be here for Thanksgiving & that’s when he’ll get his stocking & if I can get it done, she can get the hat at the same time.

Cold weather due in tomorrow, so maybe I’ll be able to spend some time crocheting/knitting instead of feeling guilty for not being outside. If I can finish the fencing today, then I’ll be pretty much able to spend time inside ‘guilt free’.
