The Justice Department announced federal charges against David DePape, 42, in the attack last Friday on Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), at the couple’s San Francisco home.
Kristinn Taylor reported on the announcement earlier.
DePape is being charged with assault on a family member of a U.S. official and one count of attempted kidnapping of a U.S. official, Nancy Pelosi, who was not home at the time.
In the charging documents, the Justice Department, via interviews with Paul Pelosi and DePape lay out the government’s version of events (TGPsummary):
The two men did not know each other. DePape broke into the house via a rear door using a hammer and went upstairs looking for Nancy Pelosi. He found Paul Pelosi in bed and told him he was looking for Nancy. Not finding her home he told Paul he would wait for her. He let Paul go to the bathroom where Paul made a 911 call, which apparently DePape overheard. The two went downstairs where Paul opened the door when police knocked. Paul was not attacked until police arrived when he was apparently beaten unconscious by DePape with a hammer while police confronted the men. DePape had a bag with zip ties, rope, tape, gloves, another hammer and a journal.
DePape said his plan was to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage to get her to tell the truth and let her go if she did tell the truth, but if she lied he would break her kneecaps.
“DEPAPE also later explained that by breaking Nancy’s kneecaps, she would then have to be wheeled into Congress, which would show other Members of Congress there were consequences to actions.” Both men were interviewed by law enforcement, with DePape reportedly speaking after being read his Miranda rights.

Yeah, sure.
Are “U.S. official” family members more special than other family members?
Hey, my foots wet.....oh it’s raining. OK.
Only to Nancy, Brandnon and the HO. Members of the Supreme Court, not so much.
Where were “David’s” clothes found?
How did he get to the house from the
bus he was living in?
This whole thing stinks.
Add hammers to the list of things to be banned in SF
LOL I doubt that is why he “went up to the bedroom.”
He just doesn’t want to end up as fish chow.
Only in San Francisco does two drunk gay men in their underwear become a federal investigation. The standard process is no bail and no court appearance if you pay the ticket.
From the sound of DePape, he was more concerned with getting hammered with drugs than looking for Pelosi who was probably his hero.
What number version is this one, version #115? #224? SMH, this story just keeps on changing.
When will they charge Paul Pelosi with soliciting a prostitute?
“homosexualagenda; lousykisser; sodomyblog;”
whichever poster keeps adding these keywords seems to have a problem with Gateway. Or maybe their own masculinity.
Go read something else.
worry not, it’ll all change by tomorrow...
He remembered the knee thing from that other Nancy
The two went downstairs where Paul opened the door when police knocked.

If Paul answered the door the the police knocked, why wouldn’t he immediately ask them to protect him from the intruder?
I just heard on our local news that David Depape is a far right extremist who was spurred on to try to get Nancy Pelosi because of the Jan 6 violence. Never mind the group he hangs out with is far left, he is a BLM supporter and his girlfriend made it clear he is NOT conservative.
These journalists are dangerous and want us dead.
BS sleep l story is an attempt to explain why dude was in his undies.
If the guy wanted to take a nap, let him go to sleep and slip outta there and call cops.
This story is bullchit.
