Did you try to root some of the basil stems for future planting? The best method for me is to stick them in a small clear vase and set on a south windowsill. Just sticking them in dirt works too, but I get a higher rooting ratio in just water. Plus it’s fun to watch them root.
You know, I’ve never tried that and now I have no leaves left. Well, maybe some teeny tiny baby ones. I have nothing to lose so I will try that. Thank you. Don’t know why I never thought of that before! I root a lot of things.
