In today's episode of the Bullet Points, we dive into the story of a dirty cop highlighting the problems with the criminal justice system in Philadelphia.
Not only are they allowing criminals out time and time again, but the corrupted deputy in this case is recycling the crime weapons for cash!... This is a systemic problem in Philadelphia... Let's discuss people!
Deputy? In the City?
That’s a career ender...I guess.
It was widely distributed over the last few days.
A lot like the DEA. Taking cash, drugs, selling drugs to dealers, extortion.
No transparency, immunity and no accountability. What could go wrong?
Clearly we need to sue the manufacturers to keep the gov’t from doing this stuff.
Cut the guy some slack, the Deputy was just running is own little personal Fast and Furious operation...
Blogger clearly is a moron.
Drug corruption.
Riffing on your not-weeding-out-the-bad-one’s theory I’d add this. If you took any one hundred people from the general population, you’d probably find that five are actual criminals of one stripe or another. Another five are likely people who would do something wrong if they thought they could get away with it. So, maybe ten percent are not the type you’d like to be friends with or who you would actively avoid.
What I’ve noticed about cops is, at least the ones I’ve had to deal with, the ratio is higher than ten percent. I think that a certain type of “bad” person is attracted to jobs that give them power over others. These aren’t necessarily robbers or murderers, but they enjoy having power over others. They’re the cops who see the world as “us” vs. “them.” (We are the “them” in this example.) They aren’t pleasant to deal with. They may simply make things worse for you because they can, or they may plant drugs or other evidence to enhance their standing. I’ve known several of these. They’ll tell you a story with relish about how they broke a perp’s wrists “by accident” *wink, wink.* They have no idea how the person hearing the story is viewing them, and they don’t care because there’s nothing you can do about it. That is part of their power. Even if you did complain they know their buddies will kill it long before it affects them. Their buddies may be decent people, but they’re intimidated, or they want desperately to stay in the “us” column. It’s peer pressure to conform no matter what.
In the past confiscated goods were often sold to the public at a police auction including seized guns.
I was at such an auction in another state years ago and everything was slow during the auction.
Then suddenly it was like an electric charge went through the crowd and they surged toward the gun table! They were preparing to sell the guns!
The crowd went crazy bidding up prices!
I could not believe it as broke guns sold for new prices and some guns sold for far more than they were worth.
All guns had to be recorded according to the 1968 gun control law.
Sadly our county cuts up seized firearms.
It was kind of common knowledge that back in the sixties and seventies New York City would occasionally take a tug out and dump confiscated guns over the side once they get out to a certain mile limit offshore. The common knowledge was that only the junk guns were deep sixed. The good stuff went elsewhere.
He had the contacts. All he needed was product, inventory.
