>>The pier is only about 30 feet.<<
Well, in the late 70s, when I did a lot of fishing off of it, 30’ drop sounds about right.
OTOH, with all the intervening sea level rise, a 40’ fall now might be correct. /sar
One day fishing there, I caught a 1 gallon mayonnaise jar. Once I got it landed, a 3+ foot diameter octopus crawled out of it. Another fisherman traded me his 1/2 full sack of piling perch for it.

Clench your sphincter. Make sure nothing goes up your nose either.

Coupla’ beers, one pier, one bier.
44 year olders don’t usually jump off piers for fun if sober.

If the water temperature is 60 degrees or less, be prepared for your testicles to climb into your abdomen.
My "spring breaks" were spent at Fort Lewis for ROTC training. The seniors spent most of the time harassing the underclassmen.
As part of that training, there was a rope drop into Lake Lewis from 40 feet up...in March. Damn, that water was cold. I was always a good swimmer, but my first time, my body shut down. Once I prepared myself for the cold water, I had no problems.

Women-diving is a thing now? Probably so, now that dwarf-tossing is frowned upon.
Unless, of course, the dwarf is a conservative...

Heck, even a 100 ft jump into water won’t hurt you.
But when the jump is over and you actually HIT the water - that’s a wee bit different.
