Exactly
That stated-
Corn meal and corn flour, whole corn, hominy have trace genetic material and must be labeled bioengineered.
However-if seedstock is from non-GMO verified source, that corn is “Identity Preserved” and does not have to be declared as bioengineered-
In contrast, Dextrose, ascorbic acid, maltodextrin, starch (modified or unmodified), citric acid, corn syrup solids, hydrolyzed corn protein, all of which are derived from same corn stock, are exempt from labeling as bioengineered since no genetic material is detectible
this will be on the final-
We’ve been bio-engineering food for centuries. The original avocado, for example, was almost all seed, with a thin coating of edible flesh.
If it says Pfizer on the label, you’re perfectly fine!
Most all of the Halloween candy is going to contain bioengineered ingredients, M&Ms, etc, etc.
See above response....
—> We’ve been bio-engineering food for centuries.
Selection is different than adding genes from other plants, animals, bats…
Few realize that cross-pollinated crops can also be considered “bioengineered” in the strictest sense and yet if it didn’t happen few natural “organic” foods would be available. Humans would starve and who would be to blame? One can choose to eat or not. It IS a choice. Not pretty but pretty simple.
It just means that they used an artificial means to blend two different species together. This is something that we’ve been doing for over 10,000 years but we’ve been doing it outside of the lab, farmers do it by cloning plants splicing seeds cross pollinating and grafting plants

I wonder if it's 🐜🐛🐌?
More like 50. The ball actually started rolling around the time of the Cuban missile crisis, or at least the Cold War. No Sugar for export to the US. The dollar devaluation and monetary inflation really went into high gear after 1968, by the early 70s the oil shocks and Embargo made meat, butter, dairy, eggs, everything really, expensive. As the years went by I suspect manufacturers found a cheap way to “fortify” foods with calories and delete more expensive ingredients.
American Soda pop was largely switched over in the 1970s. In our neighborhood we were all Mt. Dew enthusiasts. Somebody pointed out, there was a small cryptic mark on the can to look for, it “tasted better” than the others. And it did! Nobody ever explained why, though. Looking back, I guarantee it was because that distributor was still using cane sugar. I don’t drink soda pop any longer, though sugar makes for a much better tasting product. Crisper carbonation and sweeter. Corn syrup tastes slightly sour, and doesn’t satisfy.
Yes, 'selective breeding' means it is naturally occurring by choosing the best properties of the crop.
Ever wonder why tomatoes don't taste the same as when you grew up as a kid (?); they were selectively bred for size, uniformity, and firmness for transport.
That is why many people raise their own 'handed down' many generations to raise crops for historical disease resistance, flavor and taste;
these gardeners call them "Heirlooms" and are passed down generation to generation to continue the seed breeds .
Sheep
Lyrics by Roger Waters(Pink Floyd)
Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air
You better watch out
There may be dogs about
I’ve looked over Jordan, and I have seen
Things are not what they seem
What do you get for pretending the danger’s not real?
Meek and obedient, you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel
What a surprise!
A look of terminal shock in your eyes
Now things are really what they seem
No, this is no bad dream
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
He makes me down to lie
Through pastures green He leadeth me the silent waters by
With bright knives He releaseth my soul
He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places
He converteth me to lamb cutlets
For lo, He hath great power, and great hunger
When cometh the day we lowly ones
Through quiet reflection, and great dedication
Master the art of karate
Lo, we shall rise up
And then we’ll make the bugger’s eyes water
Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream
Have you heard the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as you’re told
Get out of the road if you want to grow old
Go to hippy stores and pay more for food.
Increase chances of food poisoning.
You won’t have to worry.
Go to hippy stores and pay more for food.

You won’t have to worry.
I saw Pink Floyd on their Animals tour at Tampa Stadium in 1977. Sheep was the very first song.
More likely resistant to Roundup. Roundup is sprayed directly on crops when they want to have the entire crop ripen at the same time.
My favorite guitar riff ever comes at the end of that song.
Gilmour took it to another level on Animals, especially on Dogs.
Good point.
Increases yields. Decreases price of food.
But people like to think it’s evil. It started with hippy Marxists and watermelon propaganda that also brought us global warming religion, but over decades given ubiquitous propaganda even conservatives believe it.
I wouldn’t say it’s naturally occurring, just because we force it to happen. And in so doing we have bred in weaknesses and created problems. Just look up the Gros Michel bananas. Now we’ve got new fancy technology and can tweak the genes directly. Thus speeding up the good part, and probably the bad part too.
