It was the mandates. You could not or could barely travel, work, go to to school, visit loved ones — without proof.
Many, and I don’t blame them, took the shot because they would have otherwise had to leave mom alone in the nursing home, lose the job that was providing for all their dependents, or jettison the educational program they have invested their lives into achieving.
You still can’t enter a hospital in SF without proof of shot. Your wife could be in the ER after a car accident and you can’t go in to see her. It’s purely criminal.
What’s really strange is the people who should know better...that is people in health care...are the ones who are most adamant about vaccines and masks.
If you try to explain that, for instance, the mesh size on a mask is 500 nanometers and the virus is 100 nanometers in diameter they will not listen.
It doesn’t matter if you have been looking at small objects through an electron microscope for 25 years. You are stupid and need to obey the authorities.
You have to wear your mask in a healthcare setting.
Then many of these people will go to the grocery or hardware store without a mask, as if the virus does not hang out at these locations.

I don’t think that’s purely it. The mandates came later, as they were attempting to force the “holdouts” to take the shot. But if more people had just refused the shot in the first place, the mandates would never have happened. They only thought they could get away with a mandate because a majority of society had already caved.
