So I’m to read that as hard left people are more depressed than conservatives? Or are under more stress than conservatives? Or react to stress with depression more than conservatives.

I dunno..all of the above, I’d say
perhaps they are so narcissistic, or PERCEIVE themselves to be inadequate or PERCEIVE themselves to be so special...or feel guilt about their abherrant behaviors, or their lack of faith or basic values...who knows!
We all of US seem to find that raving libs are tense unhappy people!
meanwhile we regular ol conservatives keep on plugging along with a happier heart?
