I can see Buffalo building the stadium for the Bills. Buffalo is a city in the Rust Belt that is in decline. So they have leverage and they are using it with the city/state government. But Charlotte is a city in the Sun Belt with rapid population growth. David Tepper can move the Panthers to St. Louis, if he wants to do that.

So you want to throw good money after bad? Who in their right mind would invest in an area in a 50 year downhill slide?
There’s no turning around most of the Rust Belt unless we get Trump or DeSantis back in office. Unfortunately, even when that happens, the turn-around would last a few years until the next Brandon wrecks all of it again.

There are only so many cities/states that can accommodate pro teams of any type. There has to be a fan base.
They tried to have hockey in Atlanta twice. Didn’t work. Why? Folks in Atlanta aren’t down with the NHL and the costs associated with seeing a game.
The midwest isn’t all that NFL friendly as college football rules the day.
Sadly, the taxpayers will have no say in anything as the politicians are bought and paid for and DO NOT care one bit. It’s the same as any other big money development that is approved without any taxpayer input. We the politicians just made all of you this gigantic sh*t sandwich and you all have to eat it, while we get to watch the games from the owners box. Oh yeah....think of all the jobs...what a scam all that crap is, too.
Then why am I not entitled to have the city build me a new office? My business generates tax revenue for the state.
If a sport is popular enough and (supposedly) generates that much economic activity, then the team owners and the local businesses that lobby for the taxpayer to build their stadium can pay to build it themselves. If they can’t afford to build it, the team (business) can fail or go somewhere else.
Pro sports stadiums are a disgusting and expensive form of corrupt crony capitalism.
I am not in the least against pro sports. But not when money is confiscated from me to pad their coffers.
