My family resided in Chestnut Hill and Reading. My grandfather was the Farrier and blacksmith for the Dixon estate. We lived in old Chestnut Hill stone houses dating back to the early 1800's. Mansions. The Reading branch owned Widow Finney's (circa 1600's).
From 1994 to 1998 just about every last family member had seen enough. Everyone left for Arizona, Tennessee, South Carolina, Florida, and so on...... About 65 family members left. We go back for the occasional funeral or nursing home visitation. We load up on Wawa, Amoroso's rolls, scrapple, Taylor Pork Roll, and of course......Tastykakes, then get the heck out.

Before Fitz Dixon it was the Weidner Estate Farm. Over 2,000 acres adjoining Philadelphia Fairmount Park, and Springfield Township. I kept my horses on Cathedral Avenue Stable and spent almost all my growing up years riding horses thru Fairmount Park and drinking beers with the mounted police (during the Rizzo years). Thatcher Longstreth was our councilman.
All gone to some stupid libtard Utopia. And not the Todd Rundgren Utopia.
