One of my favorite dramas to one of my favorite singers. Some bloody scenes. There are now 5 "Love Like the Galaxy" music videos up.

You list Tim McGraw’s version of “Love Like the Galaxy”. What does the video have to do with the song. I like the video but don’t understand it or its relation to the song.
Looks like Julia Ecklar is making a splash. What’s up with her? Where is she played?
I make literary song videos that use the lyrics of a song to tell the song’s story in a video context. The best example is listen to Frank Sinatra singing “I Did It My Way” in your head. Now SEE James Tiberius Kirk from Star Trek. When it’s well done, you’ll start believing the song was made FOR the video.
It’s a different art form than a traditional MTV music video. Those, to me, are Fine Arts turned kinetic. These are NOT focused on the source footage, but on the story that the lyrics tell, exemplified by the source footage.
Which means you can’t make one of these out of repeating lyrics like most of the Beatles works, or songs that don’t tell a strong story. Or songs when you can’t understand the words because no words, no story.
I’ve been making these since 1984/5 and have given a lecture on them to the MIT Media Lab, run workshops in making them, and had them described in chapters of various books.
Julia is well known within the filking community (sometimes said to be so named as a misspelling of folk). Her voice is so spectacular that she’s the center of attention at any filking con. I had her up to my room at a con to see the videos I’d made to her voice early on when I started doing Star Trek, and she also came up years later with the Blakes 7 star to see my Blakes 7 videos. I’ve done masses of videos to her voice. Some of them are below:
Miami Vice - Hands of God - Julia Ecklar - by Paul Kosinski

Star Wars - Rest Stop - Julia Ecklar

Oh, I should mention that they’re also used by fans to suck in new fans to their favorite show. So I’ve been pulled into Starsky and Hutch and Man from Uncle and Guardian by music videos, and I’ve pulled in people to the various shows I watch. If you need someone to SQUEE with, having them watch music videos gives you a good chance to get them to watch what you’re watching. It gets very lonely if you’re the only one watching Callan or Sandbaggers.
The videos come in two forms - living room videos and con videos. I made this distinction back when they played my videos in the main room at Creation Cons. I’d stand in the back of the room and watch room reaction. In that sort of context, all of my subtleties went by the by, so I learned to make con videos that emphasized physical motion for cons, and I could make layers upon layers of subtlety for the people who watched the videos over and over again until they asked for audio tapes because they could play the videos in their heads as they listened.
I once put out the statement that one of my copy tapes had an error on it. I received back a letter telling me where the error was. They were right!
