It wouldn't be rational to choose otherwise. So, take a page out of Capt. Kirk's book: if you aren't in a winnable situation in your game, change the game.

The assumption many men make is that women choose based primarily on appearance, status in the world, wealth/potential wealth, coolness. That is true for many women (though not 99.9%).

So, instead of going to a random location (e.g. bar), and finding the prettiest woman, I decided to look for women who valued a man with Catholic values. A few false starts, one woman who was a nice young lady, but we bored each other; another who was very intelligent and interesting, but too much "Italian" temperament and immature; another who didn't know if she would ever be able to decide if she even wanted to get married.

Finally, I met my future wife and we clicked. She could have married a man who was more fit, earned more money with more financial potential, but finding similar traditional Catholic values is more rare.

It was important to her that even though I was in my 30s, I made a decision to be faithful to the woman I would marry, whoever she might be (her).
