I think women were stronger back then.
Today, they cringe at cat-calling, but I think women knew how to engage with cat-callers back then as well.
However, at the same time, a cat-caller would not have thought to assault a woman who dissed them at their attempts to be crude for attention. Today, it’s not highly unusual for a woman to be assaulted or even killed if she isn’t responsive to the attentions of a male.
Does cat calling still exist? I have never seen it, except on fictional TV shows.
