High schools in Cherokee County, North Carolina, have canceled volleyball matches against one school after a transgender athlete (a boy living as a girl) injured another girl at a recent game.
The injury occurred last month when a Highlands High volleyball player made a spike and smashed a Hiwassee Dam High player in the forehead, causing severe head injuries.
“The Hiwassee Dam player, a biological girl, suffered severe head and neck injuries, resulting in long-term concussion symptoms, including vision problems. The girl has still not yet been cleared to play again by her primary care physician or a neurologist,” reported Education First Alliance.
The Cherokee County Board of Education then voted 5-1 to declare a “safety issue” and canceled all games against Highlands High after coach and Cherokee Board Member Joe Wood said he had “never seen a hit like this before.
“I’ll never put a child in a position to be seriously injured,” Wood said. “I think the odds (of injury) in these non-contact sports aren’t high. But in particular, in this meeting, a coach of 40 years said they’d never seen a hit like this. That was really what sealed the decision, at least on my part.”
Cherokee Vice Chair Jeff Martin said that the “board wasn’t searching out this kind of thing” and that it had been brought to their attention based on “safety concerns.”
Board member Jeff Tatham said the video of the injury also swayed the decision.
“The biggest thing for us, especially after seeing the video of the injury, we felt very strongly that it was a safety concern,” Tatham said. “I think most of the board members also felt like there’s a competitive advantage issue.

Seems I remember there was a time in school we didn’t allow a boy to beat up on a girl.
But today if a boy puts on a dress it’s okay. Well then maybe the brother or male cousin of that girl should put on a dress and go beat up that boy, then it’s okay right?

No, that’s assault and battery. She was injured playing a sport. Not physically assaulted. A ball hit her head.

It’s a sport, and all rules were followed. Waivers are required for sports.

If a strong girl like a Serena Williams type of frame and strength would do the same thing, no issue at all.
Second, this is one (of several) of the reasons MEN have stated ALL ALONG to not allow girls on guys’ sports teams, yet NO ONE who demanded to put girls on guys teams has accepted that argument as valid, and girls have gotten injured doing so.
When women want to force themselves and girls onto mens teams despite warnings of injuries, go eff off, men. Deal with it. Oh he hurt me!!!
When boys playing girls - who have been encouraged and supported by women to be this way, play on their “correct” team and other players get hurt, oh now, the women can’t deal with it.

*WARNING* I am not a lawyer, but I sometimes play one on FR.
Here’s my take. Suppose your boy steals a car and causes a lot of damage. The general answer is sue everyone involved. When it comes to getting money out of an incident everybody sues everyone. If your boy costs someone damage then the parents are, depending on the state, the ones held liable.
As an aside, the largest problem with stopping this madness is controlling the language. “Trans” sounds so much better than “pervert.” If “influencers” start calling “trans” (Oh, how I hate that word) people “perverts” then the whole thing will vanish overnight. BTW, the rest of the LGB croud really hate the T people. As I understand it, a T had better not show his perversion in an L bar. He’s likely to get the full operation carried out with a broken bottle.
