When Bills safety Jordan Poyer said it was good to get a win going into the bye week, he was asked about his plans for the break.
“I’m chilling,” Poyer said with a laugh. “I’m chilling.”
If anyone deserves some time for that, it’s Poyer.
The Bills safety was not medically cleared to fly to Kansas City, so he rode about 15 hours in a luxury van to be there for the Bills’ 24-20 victory in Kansas City on Sunday.
While Poyer returned to practice this past week and was cleared to play, he was unable to fly as he heals from a pneumothorax, a league source told The Buffalo News. A pneumothorax is a collapsed lung and could have been impacted by the air pressure changes required for flying.
The Bills provided Poyer with a car service to and from Kansas City. His wife, Rachel, and daughter, Aliyah, traveled with him, according to Poyer’s brother, Jeremiah. They traveled in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, leaving after practice Friday.
The vans are big enough to lay down and sleep. Poyer, his wife and daughter were traveling back overnight after the game, Jeremiah Poyer said.
Two weeks ago, Poyer was injured while intercepting Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in the fourth quarter. His pick set up the Bills’ game-winning drive, but Poyer went directly to the X-ray room in Baltimore after the game ended. He has been listed with a ribs injury since.
Poyer's journey was initially reported by Spectrum News Buffalo.
Poyer had four tackles in Sunday's victory. Leading up to the game, he was a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday and a full participant Friday. Poyer did not have an injury designation entering the game.
Good on him.
Tough guy! I have to think he got tired of trying to bring
Travis Kelce down, though. Talk about a mismatch size-wise.
This is what the NFL used to be about - looking up to men who were strong, sacrificed for their teammates and were physically tough
Not that it would stop me, or even slow me down but those aren’t real.
The driver of that luxury van gets paid a percentage of miles driven, which means he is suddenly in a higher tax bracket. And he probably got a tip.
If this van is a bouncin, don’t come a knockin...
The Bills safety was not medically cleared to fly to Kansas City??
Meanwhile a conga line of millions enters our country illegally and no one says a words about them not being, “Medically cleared”.
And sad joke on the people...
What if the game was in Denver? The van would have ascended from a little above sea level to over five thousand feet above sea level and back.
A turbine aircraft flying from Buffalo to Kansas City would probably have had a cabin altitude ascend to eight thousand feet and back.
Would he have been forbidden to drive to Denver?
They are real, it's just the filling has been adjusted and re-aligned.
I'm glad you have your speed set correctly.
