Son in law rented a Tesla, 4door sedan. Nice car. But wAy too complicated. Just to move an air vent you must navigate on the giant i-pod screen to do it. You can’t even see the vents.

Fast as hell. But my old VW beetle had a bigger trunk up front. I would never buy one simply because it’s too complicated. I don’t want to do everything in the car through a giant i-pod.

Son in law rented a Tesla, 4door sedan. Nice car.

I've also rented several from Hertz this year - Tesla 3 and Tesla Y. One big advantage is absolutely no need to fill up a gas tank before returning the rental when you're rushing to the airport to catch your flight.

Disadvantage is the need to charge it if you're planning to drive more than about 250 miles. I don't have the time or the interest in finding a Tesla supercharging station in a strange city, driving to it and waiting there for at least 30 minutes. A Tesla might work if I only used it for commuting and parked it in my garage every night, but I'd also want an ICE car for longer drives.

I can work on a muscle. Anything newer and you need to hook it up to a computer and buy the software necessary.

All I needed was screwdrivers, a torque wrench, a 5/16, 7/16, 9/16, and a 5/8...

I’m with you on that. To me touch screens are a deal breaker, whether it’s a ICE or EV. I want knobs or switches that can be operated by feel, rather than looking at a screen to determine the proper setting. I’m fine with the touch screen on my i Pad, but it ends there.

” I don’t want to do everything in the car through a giant i-pod.”

Designed for millennials, their iFag phones ARE their life.

I do not like over featured cars or motorcycles. Not just paying for them - I don’t like driving them.

Ditto for my bikes. I don’t want an RV on two wheels. I don’t want so many gadgets on the handlebars that I have to think about what I’m doing.

The more complicated a mechanical device gets, the more difficult it is to maintain reliability.
