I am sorry, sometimes I just see scams everywhere. Every few phone calls, we are surrounded by scam. It is a strange time, and I get sucked in to the bitterness. I apologize.
And I apologize for being so upset by your post. You hit a very sensitive spot for me. I’ve been making them since 1985 and have been fervid to not allow profit to be taken on them, anywhere by anyone. I’ve denied them to research libraries because they wanted to sell copies to benefit their institutions.
My work was well enough known that fans were willing to act as free copy centers, so the situation used to be understood in the old days. Today, with most people trying to make money on whatever they do, my position is probably unusual.
Logically, you can’t tell that I don’t monetize. The ads for the music and video source must look just like it would if I DID monetize.
I do similar things with my website. I spend large sums of money on 18th and 19th century paper and put it all up on my website to spread the information so the books and letters won’t be buried. I price my books on Amazon at very low amounts and then make them free for Christmas so that I usually make only a few dollars a year. I’ve hired a narrator for my Henry Livingston poetry and made it all available on YouTube because I believe that the truth of his authorship SHOULD be spread. It has nothing to do with profit, but with doing what’s right.
And it’s worth it all to me.
It’s easy to get sucked in and hard to take those extra few breaths to think how to find out what you want to know without hurting someone else.
