Cheng Shaoshang (Zhao Lu Si) was abandoned by her parents at birth when they went as military generals to guard the border. She was raised under the care of a vindictive aunt and grandmother, almost dying before her parents returned 15 years later. The result of her upbringing was a wild temperament given to subtle retaliations for the bullying she endured for being parentless.

The ending refers to the armor which she made for her fiance. He thought they were chicken wings. Indignantly, she explains they're mandarin duck wings. For the rest of the drama, the embarrassing armor is referred to again and again. And, yes, the armor DOES save his life.
