My middle child’s premature birth set us back $67,000 after insurance.

That was the start.

I wouldn’t trade my children for all the money in the world but, depending on the circumstances, having children can be financially devastating.

That is actually what I said; however, fickler fingers typed "is" instead of "is not". The second sentence should have clued you in to what I was actually trying to say.

I had a preemie as well; but, that occurred back in the days when corporate-supplied health insurance literally covered everything.
