What I tend to see is large numbers of obese people in the medical profession. I suspect they work crazy hours when young, use food as fuel to stay energetic, get GERD, and can’t cut back as they get older. So they are basically kept alive by drugs. But drugs can only go so far in the face of excessive weight.

I was looking for why Dr Shearer died, and found article that said he had polymyositis. It also said he died in 2018:
