I agree, lots of stuff got lots of radio play.

Not the 80’s but you could throw some major acts into the mix if you use that criteria:

Lou Reed
Patti Smith

just to name a few of the NYC “legends” but on had one hit each.

I was a huge Elvis Costello Fan but I don’t think he had more that 1 or 2 top 20 hits in the US.

I think Veronica was the only Elvis Costello song to chart, at least in the US.

I think Squeeze only charted once with “Hourglass” in the US, IIRC.
