I got pretty baked at a family affair and had my (a littler overgrown in size) 14 yo son drive me home and we had a cop follow us for about 5 miles before he veered off.
That’s old enough with supervision. Though I have no kids, and can barely take care of myself...
An old retired neighbor would take us fishing. As each of us come of age, at about 12, he'd ask us to "help" him hook up his boat trailer. He'd then drive it to the river to take us fishing and he'd have us 12 or so or older back the trailer into the water and launch the boat. Then after fishing we'd reload the boat onto the trailer. After he drove it home he'd have us "help" him by backing the trailer into his garage, disconnect the trailer, and store the fishing supplies.
That was back when it was cool to teach kids responsibility. I honored his memory by having each of my kids "help" me back trailers whenever we were on private property either at home or at church.
When I was little my dad would let me sit on his lap and drive going about 2 miles an hour!
