It's rather clear an ice age has arrived, likely of the "little" variety, as happened a few hundred years ago.

Whether or not it evolves into a full, 100,000 year+ ice age won't be known for centuries. A big one is "due" but due in geologic terms can be a few thousand years.

My guess is the next little ice age cycle or two or three will delvelop into the big one.
