“Who on this earth just sends their kids to a school, in another state and never goes to visit, call or write their kid?”
I’ve known a handful of rich people in San Francisco who’ve shipped their “trouble teen” off to one of these teen bootcamps in Utah or similar. It was their permissiveness and inattentiveness that result in the teen being a drug abuser and/or alcoholic in the first place. Shipping the teen off to a “tough love” facility is a kind of two-fer: (1) it outsources the problem to service people analogous to how the family outsources washing their cars to auto detailers; (2) it physically removes the problem from the home so the rest of the family can resume their own regularly scheduled hedonism.
I just wonder if this is just an attempt to be relevant and get publicity since her career has not gone anywhere lately.
