A few of my most annoying songs...
MacArthur Park-Richard Harris (This makes my flesh crawl)
Ode to Billie Joe-Bobbie Gentry (ugh!)
Honey-Bobby Goldsboro (already mentioned, but what a creepy song)
Any song by Yoko Ono (earplugs necessary)
Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde-Georgie Fame (lame fake 1920’s styled music)
Hey Jude-Beatles (boring boring boring)

Ear plugs are definitely necessary for any Yoko song. That’s noise, not music.

I liked "MacArthur Park" when it came out in 1968 because it was about Los Angeles and also because Gen. Douglas MacArthur was one of my biggest heroes. At the time the song was riding the charts, the Communist threat was heating up--the North Vietnamese had launched Phase II of their Winter-Spring Offensive that began in January and North Korea still held the crew of the USS Pueblo hostage, and the Johnson administration's reaction was timorous. I became convinced more than ever that MacArthur was right about there being no substitute for victory over Communism.

Is it me, or do “Ode to Billy Joe” and “Harper Valley PTA” sound alike?
