Similarly, Rosemary Clooney hated Come On-a My House and tried to get out of recording it. Only when the management at Columbia Records threatened to fire her if she didn't show up at the studio at 9:00 AM to record the song did she do so. It turned out to be the first of a string of hits for her.

The song was co-written by the noted playwright William Saroyan and Ross Bagdasarian, who would later wax the chart-topper Witch Doctor and then make a boatload of hits when he created the Chipmunks.
