Kids in general are interested in anything that ISN’T the subject matter that the teacher is supposed to be focusing on.

For example, if it’s a history class, and the teacher talks about stuff that’s not history, the kids pay attention.

If it’s a science class, when the teacher talks about non-science issues, the kids think it’s great.

When math or grammar is the subject matter, going off-topic is music to lots of kids’ ears.

This teacher is just an attention whore, and shouldn’t be TEACHING.
