A lot of your entry was about the problem with car theft and fake plates.

Yeah, the roundabout point I was making is that it is frustrating law enforcement efforts. Reliability of license plates for investigation purposes is practically worthless these days, so pretty often all there is left to go on are descriptions of vehicles and persons. See a vehicle that matches a description, turn back around and go look - the cops around here have to do that all the time. Can't say for certainty that's what led to that particular confrontation in San Antonio but the possibility is pretty high. The problem with that contact was how badly it was initiated and escalated.

Good Lord providing no one got hit or killed. They must be in real trouble down there with numbers if they are letting what I thought they said was a rookie officer riding alone. Inexperience can sometimes be deadly.

“...who cut that guy loose for solo.”

This may sound awful, but Texas has been in the forefront of the problems with law enforcement with all the illegals crashing the borders down there for many years. And they’ve done a good job with it as I don’t see near the negative numbers that another state, California, has with the same problem. Wonder if it hasn’t come to the point of needs and they are adjusting with more saturation which calls for more responsibility to the patrol officer possibly going into a pursuit unit, or a combination, as this case here? They may be stretched for patrol officers and a single mistake, like this one, will be seen around the world. I won’t use the term bad apple in the barrel. But a green one can look the same.
