Despite the many demeaning comments we see on this forum, Black people are NOT stupid.
They know very well the difference between a commemoration based on a history and reified by centuries of actual human experience and internalization - and one recently made of whole cloth for merely political purposes.
I agree. I think it is limited to more upper middle class black people who are educated. That is my sense, not a fact.
I’ve known enough of those. They don’t celebrate it. I’ve never even heard one mention it.
