Putting the car in motion was a seriously stupid thing to do. It was almost an admission of guilt. If it was a mistaken identity case, the kid should have complied and let it sort itself out. Cooperation is a good way to prevent police brutality, at least to avoid it.

You can’t know it was a legitimate police officer when something that irrational and without cause is done to you.

Several years ago, in the Tri Cities Washington, the Richland PD got into a slow speed chase with a suspect. The suspect crossed into Kennewick where the KPD then picked up the chase.

The suspect pulled his car into a parking lot and a KPD officer pulled his motorcycle right up to his rear bumper. When the car stopped it lurch back enough to bump the motorcycle tire. The cop was off the bike and standing just to the left of the rea of the car when he opened fire. His bullets struck the left rear roof pillar several times. After several shots, the driver never made attempt to drive out of the situation.

So, the cop then moved to the driver’s window and shot him several times through the window, killing the driver.

The family brought a suit against the city, but I have never heard how it turned out.

Regardless, the officer was out of danger from the car when he moved to the driver’s window and opened fire.

Horseshiite
You must be white, male, middle class, middle age? Like a phookin cliche.

No probable cause except maybe it kinda, sorta, looks like the same car from yesteday? Admission of guilt? Compliance and cooperation to prevent brutality? Restrict your freedom because why? Have you stopped beating your wife?

Stooopid Cop could have been shot breaking into a parked car. and THAT would have been justfied.

They are NOT on your side.

Maybe. But in an urban area your reaction to someone randomly and abruptly yanking open the door should always be to slam on the gas.

Tell that to the people that get arrested during/after a seizure.
