Several years ago, in the Tri Cities Washington, the Richland PD got into a slow speed chase with a suspect. The suspect crossed into Kennewick where the KPD then picked up the chase.
The suspect pulled his car into a parking lot and a KPD officer pulled his motorcycle right up to his rear bumper. When the car stopped it lurch back enough to bump the motorcycle tire. The cop was off the bike and standing just to the left of the rea of the car when he opened fire. His bullets struck the left rear roof pillar several times. After several shots, the driver never made attempt to drive out of the situation.
So, the cop then moved to the driver’s window and shot him several times through the window, killing the driver.
The family brought a suit against the city, but I have never heard how it turned out.
Regardless, the officer was out of danger from the car when he moved to the driver’s window and opened fire.
Yes you have it. Another episode of idiot vs idiot. The actions of neither person were appropriate.
It went into motion when the cop tried assaulting him
No. If anything, he was a ‘white Hispanic’.....................🤔
The only idiot I saw was the cop. The kid was totally innocent.
Maybe, maybe not. But I know the officer is a dumbass. He handled this in the worst way possible, top to bottom, thus the reason he was fired so quickly.
17-year old innocent kid -- can't stress that enough -- enjoying McDonalds has his car door jerked open while he has hamburger in his mouth. Why didn't the officer pull in behind him and turn on his lights? Knock on the window? Instead you gotta scare the crap out of this kid who was completely innocent, so I'm sure he's wondering what the Hell is happening and reacted poorly.
This Barney Fife wanna be needs to be publicly tarred and feathered, never to work in LE again. This is absolutely insane. Big payday coming for the driver, if he survives his wounds.
I’m not seeing harsh lighting any where. I’m also not hearing the cop confirm the car with dispatch, the license plate.
The cop was an asshole.
Prediction: since no black people were involved this will work its way through the courts and disappear from national news.
Hopefully he does survive, and rightfully takes the PD and this idiot to the cleaners. Who knows what issues he'll have if he does survive. But it'll be an even bigger payday for his family if he doesn't survive.
iconic: Stop or I’ll Shoot
Stop!....>BANG!<....... or I’ll Shoot!...................
> This Barney Fife wanna be needs to be publicly tarred and feathered, never to work in LE again. <
I agree. But since the cop didn’t kill anyone (although he tried), I’ll bet he gets off with a slap in the wrist. He’ll argue that the kid tried to hit him, and so became a fleeing felon. That’s trash, of course. But it might fly.
And then this cop will become a “gypsy cop”, fired by one department then hired on by another one that’s desperate for officers.
There was this gypsy cop in my neck of the woods. He shot at a fleeing, unarmed suspect, but missed. His department determined it was a bad shoot and fired him. Sure enough, he got hired on by another, smaller department.
And he did the same damn thing. He shot at a fleeing, unarmed suspect. He hit the guy in the back. This time the cop was arrested, and the town was sued. I never did find how that all played out.
True. Let’s put it this way. If this was a citizen with a CCW, would he be in jail or deemed a hero?
“Putting the car in motion was a seriously stupid thing to do. It was almost an admission of guilt. If it was a mistaken identity case, the kid should have complied and let it sort itself out. Cooperation is a good way to prevent police brutality, at least to avoid it.”
Horseshiite
You must be white, male, middle class, middle age? Like a phookin cliche.
No probable cause except maybe it kinda, sorta, looks like the same car from yesteday? Admission of guilt? Compliance and cooperation to prevent brutality? Restrict your freedom because why? Have you stopped beating your wife?
Stooopid Cop could have been shot breaking into a parked car. and THAT would have been justfied.
They are NOT on your side.
Meaning if a CCW shot at a car reversing and shot him while driving away, would the CCW be in jail?
Yeah...reviewing the tape, it looks like everything was well lit.
I just hope the kid survives.
Severe training issues in San Antonio’s PD too.
Did he even get a license plate number from the previous incident? The car was NOT unusual in any way to make confirming it was the correct car by use of plate unnecessary (it wasn’t a proverbial Batmobile). Pulling a gun — and using it — on a guy who was only eating a burger when you opened the door.
What is next? Shooting a grandmother through her front door because the Johnson grass is too high and when approached about it she closed the door in the cop’s face?
Somebody unidentified rips the door open and demands you get out of the car, how would you respond? The cop never ID’d himself and just began an attack.
I’d have run as well.
They said they still don’t know if the car was stolen? How can that be? Fishy, fishy. I never even heard the cop call the plates in.
This whole incident reeks. Soft on illegals or not, the chief is right, nothing the cop did is defensible. Cops can’t just wander around parking lots jerking car doors open, demanding compliance and shooting up the place.
Officer: Shots fired. Shots fired.
dispatch: Officer Ken, were shots fired?
Officer: Shots fired. Shots fired.
dispatch: Ken, were you the one firing the shots?
Officer: Shots fired. Shots fired.
dispatch: Ken?
Officer: yes.
That police officer was dangerous, and I’m glad he’s been fired.
