By the way, one thing I haven’t mentioned....HR departments and all the hardcore leftist Lesbian Dance or East African Mating Rituals majors working there are going to get slaughtered if working remotely becomes the norm.

Think of all the racial discrimination and sexual harassment claims that could not be made even remotely credibly if your coworkers were scattered all over the country. Think of all the useless policy papers and other worthless trash that would be completely unnecessary.

Yes, some jobs will go overseas but there are a lot of jobs that cannot be outsourced to India. I’ve seen companies having to reshore a lot of jobs they thought they could outsource. There’s a reason companies are bring in hordes of H1b Indians. They need the jobs to be done here.

Maybe they are finding out how worthless many of their managers really are?

And some jobs must be done by Americans, by law. My office has foreign workers working remotely outside the country. But there are some issues where the foreign workers have no ability to even see the work we are doing, because of US laws requiring an American to work on those things.

Yeah, but if they have a competitor who will pay you as much, or more and lets you telecommute, why?

Introverts are needed in an office - and they’re the least likely to buy into the ‘you gotta come back’... Two days in - three days out might work.

That’s the study I was reading. This is going to be a sea change for the Central Business Districts of the nation.

“Introverts are needed in an office”

I am a former Marine, and a few years ago learned that I’m a high functioning autistic. Which explains a lot of 50 years of failed relationships. Nice feature of working home for me? In 2 and a half years, my manager hasn’t called me in to the office ONCE because I hurt someone’s feelings. I don’t play well with others, I’m brusque, and I really don’t give a damn about your feelings. Let me work from home, and I don’t make anybody cry.

>WHY PAY AMERICANS? Just offshore whatever can be done more cheaply elsewhere. Many will have a rude awakening.

Yep, offshore is 1/3 the cost and 1/6 the value at best once you account for endemic fake resumes, people who do exactly what they’re ordered and not one jot more, the need to triple quality check and then babysit as they fix, then triple check everything again, not to mention their own nepotism which will run the US managers out of jobs if they can get a foothold. Great deal; go for it.

You either come back to the office or you don’t have a job. That sounds good to me.

You’re check is in the mail...

They’ll be begging to come back in about 6 months.

Here’s an idea - come back to work or find another job...

None of those comments are from actual employers who are struggling to find talent. Smart employers expanded their work force to include staff who couldn't come in to an office because they're working from four states away. What would it take for an employer to get a recruit to relocate to a dump like Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, etc.? Not gonna happen and the companies' competitors are going to grab the best talent available all over the nearby time zones.

Going back to a cubicle for many companies is a step backwards and they'll suffer accordingly if they re-implement it. The sad truth that has been buried for years is that these urban office employers couldn't hire ghetto locals and instead forced their employees to commute on their own time to get to an office to now do exactly what they would be doing remotely. The employees, now that the technology is in place, can work for any employer and have shown that the employers they choose have them have working remotely.

Our team is much much better off with our remote staff and processes. We have tasks that previously took weeks that now take place in days. I had an individual reporting to me who started after the lockdowns and ran circles around the former cubicle dwellers for 18 months before taking a higher position in a different company.

These Propagandist Media companies like 'Slate' aren't spreading their fiction about returning to work because it's good for employers, employees and the urban dumps many of the companies were located in, they're spreading the propaganda because the Democrats need workers' money to fund their rat holes.

And complete ruination for the Democrat plans to centralize everyone in tightly managed centers of political corruption and individual control.

That said, the next move is employers realizing that if much of the work can get done with remote workers then WHY PAY AMERICANS? Just offshore whatever can be done more cheaply elsewhere. Many will have a rude awakening.

Everyone in the workforce is already fully aware that any job that could have been off-shored was already off-shored decades ago.

Before the Covid lockdowns, I doubt that employers knew the extent of the possibilities that people could work from home. Anyone who is working from a computer at home can be working from anywhere.

Oh, the employers knew. They've been off-shoring for decades.

Workers will be forced back so mid-level managers can yell at them…..personally.

It seems to have nothing to do with productivity. Folks have been working remote for years. Once in a while to see who has gotten fat ok, go in. Otherwise I think proud executives who want the throne or their throwing money back into cities in indirect expenditures, rent, taxes, basically good ole money. Follow the money. They must be besides themselves in the predicament they find themselves.

And they are welcome to PM me for training, and video conferences with desktop sharing are arranged. Happens all the time on an ad hoc basis in my group. Ask a question, someone will be along to hold a personal call with you and walk you through a procedure or what have you. No need to be breathing over my shoulder. Which really sets me on edge, thanks.

I would not go back and find a company who offers work from home. It is just another incentive just like salary or a bonus.
