Interesting. It runs counter to the usual pattern of letting the criminal case be resolved before suing for damages. My guess is that the Studio, Distribution & their insurance companies forced a settlement on Baldwin. Their exposure is huge as they have the deeper pockets.
Perhaps not. Baldwin’s finances are pinched by civil claims and paying attorneys to defend him against impending criminal charges. It is entirely possible that the slow dime would prove illusory, especially if Baldwin files for bankruptcy protection.
