They forecasted the storm hitting a couple of hundred miles further north and didn’t correct the forecast until it was too late for people to get out.

Which is nothing they had any control over. The weather will do what it going to do.

This is far from the first time a storm took an unexpected turn.

People presuming they are safe or that it won’t be so bad is the issue. That’s why there is the cone of uncertainty.

No doubt about that mm. The authorities and the media normally warn people that a slight wobble in the hurricane’s track can greatly affect where it will come ashore. They didn’t do much of that this time around for some reason.
