Watch: Man Buys $115,000 Hummer Electric Truck - It Immediately Left Him Stranded in Middle of Road
The Western Journal ^ | October 5, 2022 | Chris Knight

It must be one of the more dramatic failures of an electric vehicle chronicled thus far. And it could have ended up much worse.

In a video posted on YouTube on Tuesday, Roman Mica, publisher of the website The Fast Lane Truck, recounted how his website had purchased a brand new General Motors Hummer EV. Price: $115,000.

After only a few days, and with fewer than 250 miles on the vehicle, the Hummer had problems in spectacular fashion. Alone on a busy highway, Mica found himself stranded. In true journalistic fashion, he pulled out his camera and documented what had gone wrong.

The Hummer ceased to budge.

The shifter wouldn’t move. The trunk refused to open.

The only things working during the ordeal were the windshield wipers and the hazard lights.

Not really worried about being electrocuted. However after some mileage if the battery casing cracks and water interacts with the lithium, there very well could be a fire.

Just like flat screens, today’s EV autos will be ‘disposable.’ Either they can’t be reasonably repaired or fixing them, to include the storage battery, will be too expensive.

That’s why I very recently purchased a plug-in hybrid. This morning my commute of 25 miles using only the gasoline engine, I got just over 82 mpg. The car is great, comfortable, quiet and a quiet. For September I drove just over 700 miles, and used just shy of 1/2 a tank of gas.

Would I ever buy a fully electric vehicle? Not until the technology improves tremendously and matures.

Did they fully charge the batteries before using it?

They would have, but they didn't want to wait for 5 days.

Why not make it pilotless and also passengerless? I won’t get it one.

When one goes rogue and won’t respond as its computer refuses to acknowledge anyone, the military will have orders to shoot it down just before it crashes into a populated area of the city. Good TV but not a good idea for transportation.

Here is the next truck / vehicle I want to purchase. If Obambi or SloJo, or for that matter any linguini - spined girlieman liberal, were to see this wonderful creation, they would wet their pants. Enjoy.

All you need to know about electric car practicality is that Tesla’s support fleet is comprised of gas-powered Ford F-150s.

There have been lemons as long as there have been cars. But EVs, and especially EV trucks, have technological barriers that will take decades to overcome. Totally impractical without major breakthroughs.

Make them out of Nerf or Legos.

When your car breaks down, hazard lights are very important.

I have never bought a new model year automobile. That is because there are always little kinks the manufacturer needs to work out. With good companies like Toyota or Honda they are usually minor.

A buddy of mine bought a brand new Pontiac Grand Am back in the 1990s. They forgot to install the button to turn on the rear defrost. It was totally missing on the dashboard.

Imagine IF this Hummer had broken down while driving through the HOOD or out in the middle of the desert somewhere.

GM has been a sh&ty company since the 1980s when they took gasoline block engines and made them into diesels. They blew up at 25K miles.

The only practical "electric" H3 Hummer was developed by Raser Technologies and never made it into production. Link

Buying a virtue signaling bauble was bad enough, to buy a Government Motors UAW product, he deserves what he got.

There is a startup that has designed and created a pack that will charge a 5 mile charge in 5 minutes.

Cost is 10,000, for the pack and one battery. Batteries are swappable, each extra one is 5 miles and costs 5k

AAA regionals can probably afford those, Joe Smoe guys like me can’t and won’t
