There’s a relevant idea in poker, called “pot committed”. It’s when you have already bet enough money on a hand that you are invested in it and can’t afford to fold even if you think you are going to lose. You’ve got to hold on for that one slim chance of winning, because that’s the only hope you have of getting any of your chips back.
That’s where the left are right now with “climate change”.
