Taking something by purchase is WAY different that taking something by force.

Don’t believe me?

What is the difference between commerce and theft?

I believe you.

Much of the historical problem comes from who was "legitimately" able to sell the land?

Ownership is often disputed.

“ Ownership is often disputed. ”

As the Revisionists like to say. Something to consider from this fifth generation Texan:

When my ancestors first landed in the rolling plains of West Texas, there was NOBODY there. Oh sure, every now and then, the Apaches and Comanches would come through following the Buffalo herds, but they didn’t stay. Even they had enough sense not to try to settle in that arid environment. Building a settlement and busting sod was hard work. Hunting and fishing were much easier … even if that meant you had to be mobile.

Back then, everything native to Texas would either bite you, stab you, or stick you. Now that the environment has been tamed, everybody wants to stake a claim.

Sorry, that time was 150 years ago.

Ownership is often disputed.

Pat Buchanan pointed out that France's treay with Spain did not allow Napoleon to sell the Louisiana Territory, and the U.S. Constitution did not allow Jefferson to buy it (ESPECIALLY under a Jeffersonian understanding of the Constitution). But it happened.

This is hurting my head!

We—no human—can go back in time and change things.

Every group of people have committed some outrage on another group at one time or another. The Native Americans tribes in place in 1607 changed over the next two centuries often due to conquests and defeats over each other. I’m sure that went back for millennia. Same in Europe, Asia, Africa, etc.

All humanity can do is stop doing it now. But humanity don’t.

Russia could leave Ukraine now. But they won’t.

We’ll could stop sending the Ukrainians arms. But we won’t.

The Chinese won’t stop keeping Uigurs in camps, Iran won’t stop beating women for not wearing head scarves, Germans won’t give up on green energy, Greta won’t stop saying how dare you, and Kamala won’t stop sounding stupid.

There is absolutely no good argument from the past to justify doing bad things in the present.
