The problem is that they polled 54%D 37%R 8%I so essentially:
1. They had to get over a majority of D to put Whitmer over the line.
2. They had to shrink Is to a paltry 8% because they too are anti-Whitmer.

All of this chicanery points to a massive upset.

Well, it could also be done to cover for the steal. If the Rep. was shown leading by, say, 8 points, and the steal gives victory to Whitmer, it would be hard to explain. Having fake polls showing her ahead gives credence to the outcome, and nobody should dare question the outcome.
